Every second Tuesday of the month, Holy Mother of Consolation provides homemade chicken noodle soup and sandwiches for the evening meal served at the Catholic Multicultral Center in Madison. The ingredients for the soup are brought to HMC's kitchen by Sunday noon while the other food items need to be there by Monday noon - prior to the Tuesday meal. Volunteers work in two shifts. During the first shift, 2:30 - 3:45 pm, the tables are set and the food is prepared. The second shift arrives at 3:45 to prepare for serving. Serving is from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. The volunteers on this shift wil also run the dishwasher, clean tables and kitchen. All the tasks are complete between 5:15 and 5:30 pm. Sign-up sheets for food donations and volunteer workers are in the gathering are two weekends prior to the meal.
