Mary Lynn currently has part-time oversight of Adult Faith Formation for the parish—meaning she provides ongoing and seasonal opportunities for adult spiritual growth and is primarily responsible for RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the program by which adults of other or no faith traditions officially join the Catholic Church). Previously she served for nearly a decade as HMC’s youth minister and director of middle- and high-school faith formation.

A writer/editor by trade, she works by day as a freelance editor for Colony Brands in Monroe and writes regular monthly reflections for Chicago-based “Take Five for Faith.”

Mary Lynn and her husband John live in Stoughton and have two adult children. Before coming to HMC, she was Director of Religious Education (Grades PreK- 6) for St. Ann’s in Stoughton. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of the Associated Church Press and worked in Catholic publishing, in Chicago, for 15 years.

The oldest of 8 children, Mary Lynn grew up in tiny Hollandale, Wisconsin (Iowa County), where much of her extended family still lives. She studied journalism at Marquette University and theology at Maryknoll Seminary in New York. She’s excited to talk to anyone and everyone about: scripture, the saints, Catholic social teaching, and the Catholic Worker movement—also camping, rural life, raising kids, pop music, and literature.

As a parish volunteer, Mary Lynn enjoys heading up the Art & Environment team (decorating the church) and singing in the parish choir. Come join us!
