Mary Lynn has been HMC's Director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry, Grades 7-12, since August 2008. During her years at HMC, she's been active at the diocesan and state levels of catechetical ministry, serving as president of the Madison Diocese Religious Educators' Organization (MDREO), working on the diocesan taskforce for religious-education standards, and participating on the communications committee of the Wisconsin Directors of Religious Education Federation (WDREF). A writer/editor by trade, she occasionally contributes articles to publications such as U.S. Catholic and America magazine. In 2013 she co-authored "Finding God Together" (Loyola Press), a guide for intergenerational faith formation.
Mary Lynn and her family live in Stoughton. From 2006-2008, she served as Director of Religious Education, Grades PreK-6, for St. Ann Parish in Stoughton. The oldest of 8 children, she grew up in Hollandale, Wisconsin, where many of her extended family still lives. She studied at both Marquette University (Honors BA, journalism) and Maryknoll Seminary in New York (MA, theology) before becoming an editor with a Catholic publishing house in Chicago for 15 years.
Mary Lynn comes to parish ministry after several years of writing/editing an award-wining Catholic family newsletter called "At Home With Our Faith," working with the editorial board of the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers (NACFLM), and writing for various catechetical publishers in the Chicago area.
Prior to working at St. Ann's, Mary Lynn was executive director of the Associated Church Press, a trade association of Christian publishers. She and her husband John are blessed with twin teenagers, James and Katie. Aside from catechetical work, Mary Lynn has been active in past parishes as a choir member, lector, eucharistic minister, and Minister of Care for elderly/homebound parishioners.
